Course Description

Capture the radiance of the beach and waves as you paint along with Douglas David to create luminous seascapes. Douglas discusses his basic concepts for conveying the anatomy of waves as they progress from the atmospheric horizon to bath the shore. He shares his personal palette for articulating reflections and refracted light upon water, demonstrating how to mix pigments to create a range of value from bright to muted in “color strings” that are easily mixed and readily applied. Douglas will also discuss the foundational concepts for making a great painting, including basic composition and form, perspective and distance, and the logic of light and shadow. Douglas invites you to work in your own style, and Douglas helps you to attain the next skill levels without overworking your canvases. Painting from a variety of photo references, you will create many different paintings while learning invaluable and unforgettable lessons in fun and informative two day experience.
